For individuals who don’t have a SSN or a Tax ID number, we offer our SAFE checking and savings accounts. If you are a non-U.S. citizen or an undocumented immigrant, these accounts allow you to have safe and easy access to financial services.

How SAFE accounts work
We believe everyone deserves fair access to financial services, regardless of your citizenship or immigration status. To open a SAFE account, join DC Credit Union at our ACCESO branch using your foreign ID. You’ll receive a DC Credit Union Savings account and Checking account, and your choice of an ATM or Debit card.
Your checking account won’t have overdraft privileges. No dividends are earned, and because your accounts don’t earn any interest, there is no need to report to the IRS.
Access your account worldwide
You will have access to your account through your ATM/Debit card and our online banking system. If you should leave the country for any reason, you will still have access to your funds at
DC Credit Union.
New Americans Loans Program
To help people finance their path to U.S. citizenship, we offer loans to cover the application fees related to this process. The loans can be used for first-time applications, renewals, green cards, DACA, and Temporary Protected Status.
